Gun shop offering lifetime warranty on Glocks

A guy I know bought a new Glock from a local shop. He said he paid $40 extra for a "lifetime warranty" from the shop in case anything ever failed. I kept my thoughts to myself and was nice and all but what a crock of poop ! I have shot Glocks since 1994 and I have never had any problems other than a recall and even that was a quick and easy process with the Glock factory and they took care of it all. More than likely nothing will fail on that Glock. Plus this is a private shop so when or if it goes out of business then his "lifetime" warranty is GONE. Just unreal to me how people fall into things like this. But then again , this same guy says that he chambers his Glock by putting a round into the chamber and lets the slide slam into it . I told him that this practice will damage the extractor after a while but he seemed to not understand what I was saying. Just unreal :censored: I know this is me rambling on but I just cant believe how some people are .

Glock basically offers a lifetime warranty with their free lookover and what not.

Wow.

Yep and that's what I told the guy but he still likes his "lifetime" warranty

One thing I've noticed in life is that some people don't mind spending more money as long as a third party is willing to tell them that everything is going to be ok as long as they spend that money.

Just an observation, but warranties, guarantees etc... those things have a lot of laws regulating them.  If I was that shop, I don't think I would be getting into the "warranty" business for any reason.

Again , I am going on what he told me and from the place he got it at , I wouldn't doubt that they offered some crap like that . I have only walked into that place a few times but never bought from them.

My local GS pulls stunts like this. They take the extra factory mags that come with every handgun & then sell them separately for full retail. Every handgun they sell only includes one magazine so they have shelves full of Glock, Beretta, & S&W mags in zip lock bags they push on people. They do this with factory handgun hard cases too. Despicable way to do business!

Tell your friend that I'll gladly give him some info on how to recognize & avoid scams...for $19.95 + S&H. :dirty:

I bet they sell .22 in zip lock baggies from Walmart-bought bulk packs as well.

Stores like that will never see a dime of my money or me darken their door.

Personally, I think they should be outed right here so someone doesn't get screwed.  I'll leave it to management to determine what is acceptable but supporting LGS's can only go so far.

I have heard of lots of shops doing the magazine thing like you described. That is crazy and selfish.

But I'll do it over the phone for $9.99! Just have him give me his bank account information.

Smith & Wesson’s have a lifetime warranty; but they don’t charge you $40 for it.

And there is a good chance you will end up needing that...

Maybe. But there is absolutely zero chance of me needing a Glock warranty.

Sort of off-track here; but on the subject of Glocks and their warranty/durability. I really was a big fan of Glocks in the mid-2000s and up till about 3/4 years ago. Thought there was nothing else to buy. They were the end all of handguns. Never went out without one.

More recently, I find that there are many other brands out there that intrigue me more. They feel better, look better, and maybe even shoot better for me.

So much has happened that I can't say I've shot a Glock in the last few years. (No...that's a lie. I shot Steelharp's 45 a couple months ago.)

I still like them, even still have one squirreled away around the house for quick pickup. But more and more, I find that my Walthers, Canik TP9, and assorted 1911s occupy my range time and thoughts when a pistol is wanted.

Heck...I've even sold a few Glocks! Gasp!

Anyway, this thread got me to thinking about them. Still good dependable firearms. Don't hesitate at all in thoughts of depending on one. It's probably the only one(s) I own that have never given a problem of any sort.

I now return us to the original thread thoughts...Glock warranty and questionable lgs dealings.

This is down right wrong. Hopefully it catches up to them.

After they sold them the case, do they say, "look, we went ahead and printed a label with your gun's S# and other info and stuck it on the case for you" when they bring it out of the back?...

I agree with others, that shop needs to be outted.    What they are doing with the magazines and cases is likely illegal.
