New range, Tullahoma

I went and checked it out yesterday, didn't actually shoot, but got the tour.  Mike Maples, a good friend and Tullahoma "gun guy" from way back is working there.

It looks like a really nice range setup... very modern, with more ventilation and air-handling than it needs (those of you who have shot a bunch indoors know how important that is).  Ten lanes I think?  Which is adequate for the market I'm sure... I doubt anyone will ever have to wait long to shoot.  There's going to be a staff RO on the range at all times when people are shooting... I think that's a fantastic idea.  Lane use fees and memberships were more than I've paid at indoor places before, but "before" was over a decade ago, so I should have expected that.  Upon a little reflection, (and ignoring my inner cheapskate), prices are reasonable, and doing a little quick research I found they're pretty much inline with other indoor ranges.

The storefront is a little sparse right now, but that's to be expected... starting from scratch is rough (I've been there).  I have no doubt that fixtures and product will start rolling in in time for Christmas.

I talked with Richard Brooks (the head cheese)... he certainly seemed like very good folks, and I can tell he's really excited about what his place is doing and where it could go.  He was (naturally) crazy bust talking to folks and doing "opening" stuff, so I didn't get a chance to bend his ear much, but I'm planning on talking to him again soon.. I owe him a bottle of bourbon.  :drunk:

All in all, I think it's a great thing for Tullahoma and the surrounding area.  The location over on the South end of town means it's very convenient for the Estill and Winchester folks too.  I got the impression from Mike and Richard that it's very much a "blank canvas" right now, waiting for customer and market input to help shape and direct where it goes.  So if you're near the market, by all means go check it out and let them know how you wish it would go.  I'll post more information as I collect it... I'll probably head back in there later this week.

Templar is rocking! We finally joined as a member to save money in the long term on range time (free Tuesday-Thursday).

Took my wife to date night in January. They had a local restaurant (not a chain) cater and had two hours on the range. Was fun ... will be doing it again.

I also did my CC class there. I had a carry permit in the 90s in Louisiana, but lived in WI for many years, leaving just before they passed CC and just hadn't gotten around to it here. Excellent instruction.

Great people, fine education, good selection (especially Glock) and very fine range. They are heavily active with TN NRA and Appleseed. They're having Glock competitions, Glock armorer school and other events.

I highly recommend them.
