Found a hand me down I forgot I had.

Recommended Posts

Reorganized my safe the other day and came across some of my Grandfathers stuff. WWII stuff ,a blackjack and knives. I got a flip down .38 with shoulder rig he used to carry in the 50's and 60's when he owned a factory. Anyway I came across his carry badge. Back then to carry you had to be commissioned by the Mayor. So I have his commission card with photo and a badge in a flip out leather holder. Just neat to have. He had a night stick that would hold a single 12ga rd in it. But it disappeared.

Try this again. Pic's not the best but here it goes. The Blackjack, His carry rig, and badge. The badge was signed by the police chief and the mayor to make him a special policeofficer. The badge says Metropolitan special polce. If anyone knows is this what you had to have to carry or was this something else.

I think that old stuff is really interesting, although 1955 is not all that old ( I was 20). I tried to research getting a permit back then, but so far couldn't find anything other than the chief's name was Hubert O. Kemp. Born 1908, died 1992.
