Today's rimfire trading .22 for a .17HMR

I have never shot a .17HMR.  Now I have to.  I traded a 1022 I had for this rifle and some ammo and the scope.  This model of Savage is the 93R17 BTVXP (Walnut).  The scope is a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24x42 Mildot.  I can't wait to see how it shoots at 185 yrds against 2" saltine crackers. If it is easier or more fun shooting saltines at 185 yrds (max range at LBL target range) than my Feddersen nitrided bull barrelled 10/22 I might hang on to it.

Oh man, those little .17s really get under your skin!

I'm only looking to offload my marlin to upgrade to a .17WSM. Ballistics are spectacular compared to a .22LR, although even a gentle breeze makes 200yds seem like over 1k. Wind drift is murder with these rascals, but once you get your drops dialed in; saltines/charcoal briquettes at 200 are a blast!
