Cool.  One of my second cousins went to school with her (I don't think they were in the same grade or that he knew her all that well.)  I asked him once if the other kids really made fun of her for being poor and he said that they did.  I asked him if he had made fun of her and he said, "No because we were as poor as her family was."

A friend of a friend is her nephew. He says she's super nice and the country bumpkin stuff isn't an act, she's really that down to earth.

My kids' bookshelves are full books courtesy of her Imagination Library.

Until we moved from Tennessee several years back, my daughter got the books from her Imagination Library regularly. One of our favorites were the Llama books. "Stop this baby llama momma drama!" is one of my favorite literary lines of all time.

We've got several of those. Llama llama mad at momma.... my wife doesn't like that one much. :D

Llama Llama, Red Pajama -- Ann Dewdney, great poet and children's author, may she rest in peace.  - lost her battle with cancer a few months ago.

... back to Dolly!  - so grateful for her Imaginatin Library... Great artist - with a vision for truly helping the kids of our state!

Congrats, Steelharp!

I am pretty sure we have all the books in the collection. We have an entire wall of our living room that is a solid bookshelf. I would estimate that we have easily over 1500 books in our home.

We were sad to hear of her passing, Llama Llama Red Pajama was honestly my favorite book to read to my daughter at bedtime when she was still into things like that.
