Getting a handgun as a gift. No carry permit. Just want to take it to a gun range. Can't I just keep it unloaded, locked and in the box with the ammo separate? Does anyone know the least expensive place to take the class?

Yes, absolutely.

Does anyone know the least expensive place to take the class?

I don’t see it on their web site now, but Mt. Juliet PD was offering the course at $25 for city residents and $50 for Wilson County residents.
