Twin charging has been around for about 10 years or so.  With advancements in turbo technology, it's completely useless.

I saw a 8 turbo 57 bel air at a show once. Owner said it was all show he could have made as much or more power on 1 turbo.

Properly sized turbo and A/R housing and tuning virtually eliminates lag.

Try 30 years or so.  1985 Lancia Delta S4 Stradale was twincharged.  And I think it dates back even farther in some diesel applications.

The stradale was the road going version, sold to regular people for the purpose of meeting the production requirement of WRC at the time.  It was a production car.  And it wasn't alone, there were others in the same period, I just think that it was the most popular.
