Congrats! Thank you for your years of service. I'm sure you will be leaving big shoes to fill.

Now go work as a government contractor and make some $! Or just enjoy time with the kids...

Congrats on your retirement. Go have some fun...

Even those of us that didn't serve know that Sergeant Majors run the place... I'm sure you're proud of your achievements as you should be.

Well please allow me to offer this advice......, Tell everyone that you are Semi-Retired

When folks hear "retired" they'll find stuff for you to do for them and they will expect that you will do it for free!

Congratulations - - - You just got some free consulting and my billable hour is $105.00.  :dirty:

Congrats and thank you for your service. Now may I suggest you  buy a nice axe handle and carry it with you. If someone offers you a job beat them about the head and shoulders.

That very thing has happened to me. A year after I retired our son was born. I am a full time stay at home dad to a now 10 y/o and parent volunteer at his school. I fix stuff there, make stuff for them and spend a lot of my time there.

I came home from deployment and had my first,  a girl.  She's 12 now and I'm playing Mr. Mom.  I have been gone about half her life.

This old Sergeant Major is on his last day of forty years of service. It's been a love/hate relationship. LOL.

Happy retirement.  Just remember, age is just a number.    It's like buying a used car, it's not the age its the mileage and tread left on the tires !

I bet it feels great ! I don't wish my life away but I cant wait ! I am 9 years behind you , 20 down and 9 years and a few months to go .

Thanks for your service and enjoy your retirement. The only thing I would recomend 1 thing it would be find a hobby that you really enjoy doing. I thought retirement would be a hoot and it was in the beginning but after a while I began fishing a lot because I enjoyed and it gave me something to do with all of the down time you realize you have all at once.................

I do have to ask a question, did your unit get you a retirement cake that said "STAY OFF THE GRASS PRIVATE!" ?
