Ok...I'm off on a different track here. I think the bear is mildly injured. See the raw skin at the jawbone on both sides of his head, just in front of the ears?

Hmm? That bears been living out of trash cans, stealing dog food and being left hand outs by misguided people. As friendly as that fellow might look that couldn't be further from the truth. Scary, very scary.

Dead bear walking.

Clearly that one has no fear of humans and is quite comfortable there. That won't end well.

depends on which side of the barrel, you were on.  Would make an awesome rug!

Rug for the wildlife resources folks to show kids. That bear will get disposed of long before a hunter gets a chance at it.

Or stuff it and pop a smokey hat on it then prop it up in a forest service office.

I see your German Shepard and raise you a guard bear...

It would be cool to be the first person on the block with a guard bear...

What an amazing creature, super cool video. Unfortunately the boys up top are right, that bear will be dead if they figure out a way to identify it.

Am I the only one that would have shot it in the first 5 secs? That bear is around a lot of houses and has no fear.

Stupid people giving it hand outs is probably why it is still hanging around in such a populated area. No food and it would find it's way back into the woods where it belongs. I have a couple friends that had a bear hanging around their homes and they decided to send it back into the woods. Every time is showed up at one of their homes they sent it packing with a string of fire crackers. After about a week it was gone, never came back. Black bears for the most part spook fairly easily compared to brown bears.

probably just from rubbing on stuff, no blood so the hair has been gone for a while.

When I first watched the video, before reading the comments, I kinda thought it was injured, too.  To me it looked like the area on the right side of its skull was wet.  I wasn't thinking an injury that had just happened as it looked to me more like it was oozing infection rather than bleeding.  More like a bad scrape (maybe hit/sideswiped by a car) than a deep cut but potentially serious and possibly causing strange behavior all the same if it is infected.

Otherwise it reminded me a lot of my dog when she is just kind of standing there looking at me and waiting for me to tell her what I want her to do.  I mean the body language and 'facial' expressions.
