To bad it is illegal to hunt with. It is a good price add a infrared light source and it will be like a Gen 2. I have a Gen 1 NV rifle scope, wish it was legal to use, well at least on coyotes.

Is it only illegal if it is mounted as a scope or in general?

I believe the use of any artificial light about covers it for hunting.

But I don't know of any law that says you can't use it in self defense mode.

I am thinking of this as my neighbor has been having trouble with their ex (they divorced 2 years ago!)and it would help them with getting a leg up on their defense perimeter.

Any LEO's please chime in.

In general. You don't want to have it in your truck on public hunting lands if you have your rifle with you.

I think so to. It is your castle and you should be able to get/have/do whatever it takes to keep the upper hand against BG's.

It isn't in their world,but I think they are getting there rather quickly.
