Nashville Area Fuel Reports

So, this is a thread to let those in the Nashville area know when/where you see gasoline/diesel available.  It is not intended to be a panic thread, but just realtime information for our community.

As the week goes on, our family is monitoring our fuel usage so that we don't run into a problem if supplies stay tight.

I'm somewhat surprised this has become a issue just a few hours down the road. Here in Kingsport, all stations appear to operating normally and no one seems to know what I'm talking about when mentioning a possible shortage. Maybe we've just got our heads in the sand.

With that said, the media hasn't mentioned it so two thirds of the town did not go to the gas station at the same time.....

There's no issue.  That pipeline busted a week before the news reports and it's nothing but the ammo shortage panic except with gas.

OMG everyone run and buy gas because they are running out!!!

Why are they running out?

Because everyone is running out and buying gas!!!

Unlike ammo, they can only hold a certain amount of gas.  they're not filling up 5000 gallon tanks at their house because of a 'shortage' and hoarding it.

Reportedly some asshats were filling up 55-gal drums in neighboring Maury County.  The Sheriff's Dept put out word on social media last night asking folks not to do this as it is very dangerous to transport.  So, probably the same folks who have been hoarding .22LR ammo.

Sweet baby jesus people are stupid.  They probably spent $100 on a container and hand pump.  Then they also have 55 gallons of gas sitting in a shed (hopefully not a garage in their house) just waiting to cause a problem.

If a truck can haul 10,000 gallons (probably more than that) this entire debacle is over a total of 30 FREAKING TRUCKS.  Entire east cost in a panic over fewer gas tankers than I seen sitting at Flying J by my house this morning.

What concerns me more is the level of panic that a week old news story was able to cause with people.  I think I really need to reconsider the seriousness of what would happen during an actual SHTF scenario.

This is what I have been trying to explain to my mom and sister. They just got a small look into what a public panic can do. My mom always let her gas light come on. I have told her many times to never let it get below 1/4 tank. She sat at a station this morning all upset because they only had premium and she did not have enough to go elsewhere because the light came on during the drive there.

I usually never let mine go below a 1/2 tank.

Luckily, I had filled up before the panic.

With the VW TDI, I get anywhere between 47-52 mpg's.

Then I have a Toyota Tacoma sitting with a full tank. It only gets about 22 mpg's average though.

People are strange, every year we get some form of frozen precipitation that sends people into a blind panic buying milk and bread...or beer and cigarettes as the case may be. That same group of people also hit up the nearest...or cheapest gas stations as well. Most of you don't remember the oil embargos of the 1970's and its level of panic.

Lines?  What lines? (But there sure was nice cars back in the day :pleased: )

And why people buy milk and bread before a snow storm is beyond me.... I have whiskey, a grill, and a back yard full of deer.  We're good! ;)

Ok, so those tankers covered the amount spilled. What are you going to do to replace the approximately 23 million gallons per day not being pumped? Got an extra 2,300 trucks and enough drivers to run them 24/7 until the pipeline is functional again?

Supposed to be fixed next week, and they had two pipelines, the one carrying jet fuel was diverted to carry normal gas.

And yeah it is bad around here too.  Went to take the trash & get some non-ethanol mower gas, sure as heck they were out.. of everything.  Go to a shell station, out of everything except regular and of course there were multiple trucks there with beds full of 2-3 gallon cans topping all of them off.

I need to buy stock in M&M's then pay the news stations to run a story about how the machines that make the candy shell are being banned by the FDA in December.

This evening, at the only station in our town I saw that had gas,I saw a guy at the pump filling up a blue plastic drum in the bed of his truck. If you don't use it, it'll turn to furniture finish in a few months. A person can be intelligent, but people are truly stupid.

Don't hate, people will find out in 6 months when they start trying to burn through it as their cars start screwing up from knock.  They're just helping out the local mechanics.

At 5PM today every station around Mt Juliet Rd exit was out, I called Thornton's at 109 exit, was told they have gas.
