Joe @ Hero Hear has a nice selection. I have a couple of 220's. My carry is

a Custom Shop Elite 220 SAO when I feel big bore. I need a 229, 239 and a 228.

The 220 is what started it all for Sig (as we know it today). You can't go wrong with a 220 or any Sig for that matter.

This is what aggravates me. SIG's are great, I've had a few. They just don't work for ME. I wish they did... there are others that do, though, so it's ok...

I purchased a P229 SAS Gen II 40 cal in November. Fell in love with it. Easy to shoot and handles the 40 call ammo with minimum recoil. Not a lightweight/compact gun. I am now looking for P239 SAS Gen II 40 cal for carry. Also have P232 that I use for my CCW. You might want to check out sigforum.com.

Just bought a P220 about a month ago ...

South of Jackson, TN - http://www.robertsontradingpost.com/ - these guys bought up 60 former duty pistols from the N.H. State Police & I came across them on gunbroker. I couldn't pass one up at their price!

In a month I've put about 500 rounds through mine & I couldn't be happier.

Sig & HK are top-of-the-line in my opinion ...

To be honest, I always hated Sig triggers, until the past few years. When the SAO came out, I had to get one, I did. It is awesome, so much so, I got rid of my 1911, Yeah I know.... My next 2 handgun purchases will be the 220 elite carry SAO or a Elite in 40. I've carried Glocks for years, now that Sig fixed the trigger problems, I'm going to switch. In other words, buy one.

I have a P220 ST.

If you want a range gun, the stainless ST is great because the extra weight soaks up some recoil. However, you pay the price for that weight if you carry it all day.

I have 2 P220's. Both are West German guns. One in 9mm (predecessor of the P226), the other is in 45. I've owned several more over the years and will probably own a few more.

For a DA/SA .45 I do not know that you can do any better. Accuracy and reliability is without detraction.

Being a single stack, are they chunky like the double stack Sigs? Anywhere near as thin as a 1911 or as easy to carry?

I'd venture to say that they are slightly bigger than 1911s.

I'd compare them to a 1911 for thinness, maybe just a wee bit thicker, though not much.

I have been carrying my P220R Carry the last few weeks in a Milt Sparks VMII, and although it is confortable, It is a little heavy.....

For winter carry, it works great, but for summer time with shorts, I think Im gonna have to find another solution.....:P

I'd say that they are in between--- the grip is thicker than 1911 but thinner than a double stack Sig. I think the Sig P6/225 is a lot closer to 1911 dimensions, but of course it is 9mm.
