I like to get prices and compare to see who I want to work with. I might not buy right then and there but generally I go back to that shop when I am ready to buy. Most dealers have been pretty good with me, some even return calls!

Worst experience I have had since moving to TN was once when I went to get a mag for my AR15 and as I was standing in the section looking at the mags, the guy behind the counter asked me if I needed some help. I told him that I was looking for some AR15 mags and he got this puzzeled look on his face and stated that he did not think he had any. Well he had me follow him to the other side of the store to... yeap you guessed it, the magazine rack. Needless to say I do not go there anymore and besides, they were over priced anyway.

Being in Rogersville, I suggest you come overhere to JC and try the TriCitiesGun in Elezibethon or Byrds in Jonesborough. In my experience so far, both have been the best of this area and super nice.

As far as Coal Creek Armory is concerned, I have had some bad experiences with one of the salespeople and one of the gunsmiths, both who no longer work there. JWP has always been a pleasure to do business with and takes the time to just talk to you as well. He has also has given me some good deals and some rangetime. I like to shoot there when its not so busy. The past three times I've been there it was slammed with people. The guys he has working there all asked me if I needed any help. I have purchased two pistols there, and also took a new member from TGO there to get his firearm. I might get scared on the range depending on whose shooting there, but I've had no problems since the aforementioned people no longer work there. My two cents.

I, too, have had nothing but pleasant experiences with the current salesfolk at CCA, and JWP has been courteous and professional in responding to my PMs here on TGO.

However, I am compelled to point out that I have had one issue recently that has still not been resolved (70below mentioned this earlier in the thread without naming names). I took my Sig P226 in to be refinished in ceramic back in October, with the promise that it would be ready in "3 to 4 weeks". It has now been 10 weeks and counting that I have been without my only 9mm handgun. I began calling and PMing at 5 weeks, and every time, I was told that it would be ready in "a couple of days". Obviously, this was not the case. Again, my dealings with JWP and his staff have not been the least bit acrimonious, but that doesn't mean that I'm not becoming more and more impatient by the day. I'm eagerly awaiting the return of my handgun, as well as to see what sort of relief I'll be offered for my inconvenience. As one might guess, the outcome of this situation will go a long way toward determining where I choose to spend my money in the future...

I have heard some bad stories about Crowders.

My only purchase experience there was a good one. Ended up with a revolver for about 60 bucks less than the original price I had agreed upon. Turned out that the price they quoted me was out the door, I was expecting tax and tics to be added on. Ended up being the best deal I have ever gotten on a gun.

I am pretty sure what happened to me was an exception.

I just got done with a deal from Greenbriars own, and let me tell you they did a bang up job. The wife purchased me a new 870, and a new Ruger P90 and I could not be happier with the whole experience. I can be quite a PIA about buying things, and the folks up at G&L made it very, very easy.

I really try to avoid Guns&Leather in GreenBriar. Every time I walk in there I end up with 2 or 3 guns instead of one. The prices are too good and the sales staff too accomodating. I've got about 11 free passes to their range, I'm afraid to use them, they'll just sell me more guns.

I generally buy locally, more because I am to impatient than anything else.

As far as service my experience even on a new gun from a licensed FFL, you bought it it's yours. As-is. If it has trouble deal the the manufacturer. They won't mess with it. So I have a friend that has recently gotten into gunsmithing and is pretty good so far. If I find a good deal on a used one I'll get it and he can fix it.

I got him a cheap old wore out revolver for Christmas and it's working like a champ now. I thought it would be great practice.

I have most of my dream guns right now anyway (probably no one elses dream guns) and am lately more in the mood for accessories, add ons and ammo.

+1 on CCA. I have given them their last chance. These guys act like they don't want your business.

Gunny's in Maryville are good guys, and I do most of my business with Farnsworth in Vonore.
