Ruger or S&W

The 19 is just the pinnacle of the Smith revolver for me. I shoot them better than the Ruger, I guess that's why I favor them. The 4" is a great tackdriver, and the 19 snubbie with T-grip is just plain fun to shoot as well. And either of them are accurate out to the edge of my capabilities and far beyond.

My daughter is active in shooting. She works with cops, so she shoots what they shoot. Last weekend she was trying out her new M&P VTAC. I put a Model 19 in her hands (Beautiful nickel 6”) and said “Try this”. Needless to say she was impressed. thumbsup.gif

I shoot them better than a Python.

I don't own any revolvers and have less than five my entire life. Just not a revolver guy unless it has a specific purpose. I won't buy a revolver to carry.

Because of that I have nothing to contribute.

I will say there are published 9mm load data for a 147 grain bullet at 1,200 fps. That is not a +p load so there is some room for more velocity in a gun designed for higher pressures.

Are you saying that is enough for your purposes? I have seen 1500fps 158gr .357 loads. No matter what, the .357mag has more case capacity so given a strong enough platform, it will always have more velocity and energy. It's not always needed which is evidenced by the number of people who carry snub nosed .357 revolvers and load them with .38 +p.

I have a Ruger SR101 but I don't like shooting .357 out of it with the short barrel.  Now my S&W Model 19 with the 4" barrel is a dream to shoot and probably the most accurate guns I have.  There is something very special about shooting a wheel gun.  I have too many semi-auto's and wish I had more wheel guns.
