ATF Powder Reclassification Alarms Industry

I wonder what type of restrictions will be leveled at reloaders? I know I have a good stash and am not even close to what others say they have.

If true, interesting to see the repercussions. I imagine it would make reloading too expensive/troublesome for most and ammo will cost a lot.

Wow, those (insert expletives here) are really on a roll as of late.

No doubt! This is great for them though since it'll not only affect civilians, it will affect the military.

What a great way to make our boom sticks not go boom.

Regulation nation!

I question the validity of this concern. Seems of valid you would hear more about it. All of the "big names" in the firearms industry are silent on it.

The ammoland article mentions June 2016, so it may even be a bit old news.

Here's to hoping. Still reading about it.

confused.gif  Well… if this was announced over two months ago for immediate implementation; it hasn’t worked. Ammo is still being shipped.

I too am curious to hear from the ammo manufacturers on this.

If common smokeless powder is classified as a high explosive, that would require each round to have a $200 tax stamp, just like HE 40mm rounds.

Only if the cartridge contains more than 109 grains of powder.  Less than a 1/4 ounce of explosive is not regulated.  Even the huge .600 Nitro Express cartridge only uses 100 grains of powder.  The .50BMG uses about 250grains for comparison.

I did not know that. Good to hear.

Wouldnt that mean that only bulk reloading powder would be affected by this new regulation if they decide to reverse again and implement it?

Just a start and they will want to have it control all powder amounts. They have not yet got enough support to carry it out.

The government wants to and many dems have said they will work to get rid of firearms for civilians.

That would be them being generous. They want to outlaw it altogether. To be honest I'm highly surprised they haven't tried to outlaw machine guns completely.
