My bad.... I forgot to mention that this is an unlocked phone.  It's on NET10 but uses the AT&T signal.  Don't know if that makes a difference....

Since it's unlocked, you shouldn't be having these problems.  If your device is a klte version, than this should be the page for a CM build.  You'll need to be sure though.

Not sure if there is any kind of special considerations, since you mentioned some issues earlier in the thread.

Looks like my options are to force an upgrade to 6.0.1 or get that phone you linked to.  The specs are about the same and it looks like it has less on it.  There's one on eBay with 32gb at a current bid of $149 (reserve not met) think I'll watch it....

Well, 6.0.1 should give you the ability to use those steps I listed to gain root access. Also, 6 is much better than 5 even if you can't get root access IMO.

@btq96r Well I finally got the 6.0.1 upgrade!   Don't know what took them so long.  So now it shows permissions are turned off when I download an app and I can go thru each one and decide what I want to share.  Nice feature so don't see a need to root (for now)  Now I *might* get a Twitter account.  There's a few people I wouldn't mind leaving some comments for.
