Is a bent buffer spring a big deal?

Unless the sales policy prevented it, I would have returned the bent spring as soon as I opened the box, and been insistent about it should I encounter any questioning.  I also would have used the feedback section to tell the vendor why having a box that wasn't longer than the spring inside it doesn't work so well.  Though I imagine that may fall on deaf ears if they are trying to use a flat rate box.  Companies (and to be fair customers) are drawn to the fixed price they represent...even when a square peg, round hole problem as seen here presents itself.

I have received a bunch of AR recoil springs in bags that were not stretched out flat. Those things are tough. MM's spring was either subjected to some extreme force, there's a flaw in the steel, or somebody screwed up making it. My bet would be that it left JP that way.

My rule of thumb is if I wouldn't store it that way, I don't want it shipped that way.  Maybe if the spring had appeared normal after taking it out of the box I might be fine should it pass an inspection, but the picture MM showed us was a part that would have been returned riki tik on look alone.

My rule is, if RRA shipped me two springs with an upper that way (bent in a u shape in a big ziplock), it's probably an acceptable means. They really do know what they are doing. It's a spring. It's whole job in life is to maintain its shape. Everybody does it. So, good luck with the demands.  

I agree with sending that one back.

Just an update: I got my replacements and return shipping box in today and all is well.  I'm a satisfied JoeBob's customer.
