Very nice. I have a German capture, crested Yugo that I have stripped the stock.

What did you use to get that color?. Mine was as dark as yours, after stripping it still looks dark.

Very good job of turning a nice old rifle into a beautiful old rifle.--MP

Turned out great. I like the look of the scope foreward on the old Mauser. Its the scout look. I have a bring back mostly matching gun that I love to shoot. I would never alter it in any way, but would love to give the scout treatment to a import. Time to dust off the C&R now.

It shoots 8mm Mauser and you can get them from just about any website that sells Military surplus rifles for around the 120 dollar range.

I got it from a friend for $200. the stock, receiver, and the bolt all have the same numbers while the floor plate and barrel are different.

I was going to sell it after it was finished but I think I may keep it now!

I like light colored wood on some battle rifles. It looks really good on that Mauser.

Nicely done!

CK I believe Guns and More on Papermill Drive has a few Mausers. Dunno for sure if they are Yugos or not but I believe they shoot 8mm, which they have rounds for too.

that looks so sweet!!! i love it... where does one go about getting a rifle like that? what caliber does it shoot?

That's an 8mm Mauser. (7.92x57). This particular model was based on the 24/27 Belgian. By the looks of the stock, it appears to be mahogany, which would indicate it was intended by the Yugo's for Export (they built a boat load of them before realizing everyone was already buying semi-autos and there was no market). I believe the designation is M1947.
