Armadillos definitely,  but I wonder why one of the stories stated they (cougars)come from across the Mississippi and not up from FL?

Probably because they seem to be much more prevalent in West TN rather than Middle or East, which is what you would expect if they came up from FL.

Cause the only known ones in FL are an isolated quite small subspecies.

Yea, but I have read that they, FL cougar, may not really be a subspecies.  And have they done DNA testing to see where these were really from?  I would think it would be easier for one to come up from FL than east from wherever. Maybe followed that darn armadillo?

I've known about cougars for a while now. I've seen a few. I've even had one live with me for a couple years a while back.

She never did get used to you did she?

Well, for whatever genetic reason, they just don't get nearly as big as the standard cougar. Certainly not the size of the ones that have indeed been documented here recently.

Oh it did. I could pet on it and sometimes it would growl at me.

I was just kidding. That was a joke about a quote off of "Jeremiah Johnson."

That must have been a heckuva pet to have.

Years ago I would see armadillo roadkill on the Natchez Trace, I'd ride to a yearly MC rally in Savanna TN and that's where I first saw them. Over the years I saw them slowly moving east. I'm not sure how close they are to Nashville but I have yet to see them in Wilson Co.. Coyotes I have seen around here.

Actually saw one get hit this morning on the road in Wilson County... They're here.

When deer season comes around, I always always dread the thought of hearing one of these things scream on the way to my stand. Just listening to videos of them scream will send chills down your spine. Then again, maybe I watch too many horror films.

When I saw the one at Anderson Tully I was sitting on a 12' ladder stand with a single shot BP rifle. Come to think of it, I think that was the last time I hunted up there.

I am an archery guy and I definitely wouldn't want just a compound bow on me when I come in contact with one.

The cougar that was shot in Carroll County was hit with an arrow if I remember correctly.
