First, the NSA, now this

I don't have anything to hide ( at Ieast I don't think so) but this invasion of privacy thing is getting out of hand. I know it's not illegal but it still bothers me.

On second thought, maybe they can tell me some things that my feeble old brain has forgotten. B)

This Company Has Built a Profile on Every American Adult

Every move you make. Every click you take. Every game you play. Every place you stay. They’ll be watching you.

I have known this for sometime now, as has many of you out there I bet.  Some is for non-nefarious use (obnoxious though), like the ads on some sites that show you ads on things you've looked at before on amazon or other sites.  Soon it will be like in the movie Minority Report where the commercials were tailored to whomever was standing in front of the screen.  The problem is, there is practically no easy way to opt-out of this.

I do what I can.  No Facebook use, browser clears cookies every time it closes, never logged in for a Google search, use a VPN for untoward stuff...but there is no way to stay away completely if you use the internet.

It's creepy when stuff I researched at home shows up on ads on an email I only access at work, on different computers.

Hey. I recognize that. That's the CDC recommended swimsuit for the Rio olympic swim team!!

We don't need no stinkin bio hazard suits...reported on NPR, athletes who participate in water sports, simply keep your mouth closed while competing.

Do you wonder the purpose of smart appliances?

Those modern gadgets in the Brave Little Toaster were down right menacing.

I try to minimize my footprint and public identity since privacy and identity have both tangible and intangible value.

I have two forums I visit, haven't accessed/updated  my Facebook in years and do all of my personal internet research/browsing/shopping through a smart phone.

Work is all VPN and intenet based is 100% work related, I do no personal stuff except for LinkedIn which is endorsed for use by my company.

I'm sure many have googled thier phone number or name. Or a friend or enemy. Quite interesting to see that you have ex-wives or ex-husbands and children, where you live and how long you have been there and where you did live.  It's really difficult to remain anonymous when your info is on county records web site.

Privacy is antiquated thinking in the information age don't you know? People called me tinfoil over the NSA nonsense until Snowden. Then everyone acted as if they knew all along. The same with collecting and selling information collected on the internet.

This service is really the result of a willingness to use "free" services, especially search engines. Google Analytics runs on most browsers and actively collects browsing data every time you search a url or click a new link depending on your browser settings. They collect information. Information is money. Targeted advertising is money. SEO is money. Many have been talking about this kind of stuff on alternative media for years. It's labelled as conspiracy BS until mainstream source runs a dumbed down version. Nothing new here. Maintsream is always months or years behind alternative sources.

Now when the reptilian overlords reveal themselves all at once to strike fear in the hearts of the masses for a greater power grip over the proles, I hope I don't hear these same people claim they knew it all along.
