The DPX HEST/F Urban

Recommended Posts

Posted

This knife has finally arrived and is now in my hands.

I ordered it from the Kickstarter that DPX was doing for an all US produced knife because I thought it would make a nice daily carry knife. This particular one is the "Bronze Edition" because it's literally bronze in color. The other options was the "Sterile Edition" and the "Mr. DP."

Specs:

GAL4v Titanium frame

S30v stainless blade

Glass breaker

Stainless pocket clip

Wire strippers

1/4" hex drive

Bottle opener/notch to open it like the Emerson Wave.

Put on some thick leather gloves and test that bottle opener a few times. My original HEST folder would reliably unlock and fold up when using it to open bottles.

I was one of the ones who waited forever to get one of the originals after all of their production/partnership troubles. I loved the blade, but stopped carrying it because I didn't trust the lock.

I'll be sure to do that.  Apparently nothing has changed with them because getting these was a huge deal after "production and supplier issues."

Let me know the next time any of you want a DPX knife, I deal those as well

Just as like Mac stated, I had the same issue with one I use to carry

Will do. Gotta say I don't think I'll be purchasing another of their products. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but I just wasn't really wowed by how the whole process went down.

Peloton does seem to be pretty adept at setting supply chains on fire.

I'm pretty sure the Lion Steel guys told him to go pound sand just like Jeff and Mike did over at ESEE.  Seems no one wants to hitch their reputation to him.

That's interesting. Wonder what the deal is there.

The ESEE saga is pretty well documented over on Blade Forums.  As I recall, they just finally reached a point where they were afraid his antics were going to negatively affect their reputation.

Reading about it online it seems like he had a nuclear meltdown on Blade Forums. Then again it seems like that happens to a lot of the knife makers.

It may have been culled now - but yes - he said some very nasty things which caused Blade Forums to lock his sub-forum and ESEE to disassociate themselves.  Jeff was kind in his comments at the time as I recall, but they made it clear that their commitment to their customers was 180 degrees out of phase with RYP's.

That's a great looking sheath you made for that thing, by the way.

Can't claim it as mine, that came with the knife.
