Confrontation? Nope. Not for me.

Here's a short article about someone that stopped to confront another driver that was following too close. I don't get it. In todays asinine world, it's far better to pull over and let the vehicle pass and avoid getting shot or getting into a gunfight with an AH. Both of these guys were old enough to know better than this crap.

Poor judgment on both sides.  From what I read I would have to side with the shooter on this one a bit, there is no reason to get out of your vehicle and attempt to get in the face of another driver, or attempt to enter the vehicle.  Of course this is precipitated by both of them pulling over, so who knows what each of them thought was going to happen there.

I agree. I'm not sure, but I seem to remember the original article said the driver actually just stopped in the middle of the road and walked back towards the follower who shot him and then left the scene. It was a couple of days before the shooter turned himself in. Not smart at all.

The only way I'm stopping is if the SOB wrecks me. There are waaaay to many people out there that need anger management classes and drugs. Besides...I'm an feeble old man that is in constantly in fear for my life so.....

I agree GT. People are nuts!

I had a woman who was pulling a trailer full of cut tree limbs and brush up 65N near VVB call the police and say I was in a road rage scenario because I flashed my lights at her because the limbs were coming off the trailer. None of it was tied down.

And of course one bounced around in the road and hit the front of my car. That's when I started flashing my lights and got close enough to get a tag number.

I pulled to the roadside to call 862-8600(always correct...that's me lol). By the time I got thru, a Goodlettsville officer pulled up behind me and checked me over.

I explained the situation, he took the tag number and then escorted me to the lady's truck/trailer down off the exit where she stopped.

We got it all straightened out, and I got her insurance info and had my front end repaired. She didn't get a ticket because the officer didn't see it all happen. But when we got to her, she was finishing tying down the remainder of the limbs.

Well, I have never thought road rage was a reason to shoot someone unless they pulled out a weapon to hurt me but then I would never pull over to get involved in a confrontation to begin with. I do find myself getting flipped off a lot these days than I did years ago and I guess that is because I do drive a little slower than I use to. On 2 lane roads I will drive the posted speed but on 4 lane roads I do drive about 10 miles under posted limit but remain in right lane and have vehicles wizzing by me that I know are doing well over the posted speed. Sometimes that is when folks flip the bird at me after they had to follow me until they could get in fast lane and pass. I  am never in a hurry to get anywhere I am going anymore so I just take my time and enjoy the drive.

I know a guy that was involved in a road rage incident where the other guy got out of his car at a red light and approached him. My friend very stupidly had his pistol waiting and pointed at the guy.

Needless to say, he is still in trouble.

Was he in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? We have no idea; I guess a Judge/Jury will make that call.

I wasn’t there and don’t know if he could have driven out of it or not. But it’s ones word against the other.

Be the first to make that call to Police if you have to pull a gun whether you have to shoot or not. But if he waited a couple of days; he’s toast.

It sounds like maybe they had the guys plate number (unless the press just decided to put it in after he was arrested.). I wonder what the story was when they went to his house looking for him?

I think since he shot the guy and ran, he's in big trouble and this won't go well for him. If he'd been under fear of bodily harm or death I would think he would have stayed at the scene. It seems to me that many time in a hit and run and this type of event where someone turns themselves in a day or two later, alcohol is involved. I'm sure the judge/jury will sort things out.

No, it's goooosefraabaa.  One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.  Possibly nsfw.

Everyone's true character comes out when they get in the car to drive. The most patient and kind person will mutter derogatory words at someone who is driving like a goober.

Personally, I would never get out of the car for a situation like this. Should he have shot the guy, who knows? If the man feared serious bodily harm or injury, technically he was justified. I wouldn't be too happy about someone trying to get in my car with a very high temper.

If you are driving a car, you are in possession of a deadly weapon, regardless of whether you have a firearm or not... A car will kill most anyone... I aint too worried about some jackass standing on his hind legs and me in a car...

Now that i've got a bit older, I dont worry about jackass flippin me a bird or sayin bad things to me...  I drive sensibly, and don't respond to jackasses who want to show me either how ignorant or tough they are... If they try to stop me or hem me in, that's another whole problem... Follow me home... Very dangerous...

turtleman leroy, the careful driver...

Road rage is no joke some places. I saw 6 guys about get into a knife fight on the side of the road a couple weeks ago. It ended pretty quick when the second guy to pull a knife was greeted by 4 more guys.
