A guy on another forum I post on works for tva.. he made a couple of posts about this today.

Took a field trip up to Kingston fossil plant to see the destruction... that **** is impressive in person. It's gonna take a while to get cleaned up.

damn relaxing ass day so far.

but yea... they got some pretty heavy equipment working around the clock, but it's gonna take weeks before they get some roads opened back up. This is gonna cost us a pile of cash... and I'm sure this has completely ruined a couple people's Christmases.

What is fly ash?

fly ash used to be the crap that got spat into the air, but since we've put environmental scrubbers on the stacks, we now reclaim that spent ash so it doesn't effect the environment.

I really don't understand why this hasn't gotten more press coverage with as badly as we've been in the public eye this year. I guess because no one died? dunno. The whole town has come out to check it out... they've got gaurds up at the entrance to the plant, but you can still check out a couple sections of the road that it covered around the back side.

alls I know is, I'd hate to be the scape goat that last signed the dike inspection report as A-OK!

It's gonna be bad for somebody. It so happens that I work for a large federal utility based in Knoxville and I inspect similar structures at the hydro facilities in the 7 state region. And might I say that I'm REALLY happy that my name is NOT on any of that paper. I've been on leave but I've been getting some stories back on this.

I am making a run down to Kingston Saturday for a liquor delivery. I am very curious to what it looks like from the interstate.

Dunno how the homeowners will rebuild there, or if they would even want to. That place looks fubared in the pictures.
