Guess he's just trying to figure out if he identifies as a hollow point or a full metal jacket, lol.

I did a little googling and yes he did say that. The context is a bit questionable when you read the entire speech. For me, it's hard to say for sure how he meant it without hearing the speech in full.

I was pretty young at the time, but I vaguely remember this speech because of my dad. He was a strong southern democrat. Raved strongly against the concept of a Catholic president and how the Roman Catholic Church/Vatican would control his actions and thus America.

But Dad was swayed by this and several other of JFK's speeches and became a staunch supporter of John F. Kennedy. To the dismay of several of our family and friends at the time.

You could change the sign in Frame 3 to any of several other alphabet agencies and it would ring just as true.

The monkey is also wearing a suit holding a gun........

The CHIMPANZEE is wearing at least half of a suit, and his hand is holding the gun. :taunt:

So true, and change it to the president's office.

Did Jack really say this?

Then Senator John F. Kennedy published this in April 1960 to a "Know your lawmakers" column in Guns magazine:

http://www.gunsmagazine.com/1960issues/G0460.pdf - see page 4

There's some pretty cool reading (and prices) in there.

Here's the editor describing it in a later Field and Stream article:

$35 for a Colt 1911....I need to build a time machine.  Handloading was apparently a big thing back in the day as well.

Thanks for posting that.  Very cool look into the gun culture of yesteryear.

Those were the days!

I have the paperwork for my Ithaca 1911bought from the Army back in 1964 for $17.50, and $7.50 of that was shipping by REA. I wish that's what I paid for it.
