Gonna get a new one tomorrow.

Yep, gonna get a new pistol tomorrow. I've always liked 1911s, but I'm going to trade my S&W 1911SC off tomorrow after work. I'm going to stay with the Smith and Wesson family though. There's a new M&P Compact 9mm with my name all over it. I've been eyeing these for a while now and am going to have to get one. The 1911 carries well, but it's my smallest handgun and it isn't that small. I just got the Sig 226 and it's fairly large and I'm wanting something small and light again. I'm not a big fan of Glocks and I've had XDs so I'm going to try something different. I've regretted getting rid of my XD Subcompact and have been wanting another smaller carry gun. Joe at Hero Gear just got a bunch of these little jewels and he hooked me up. I'll try and get it out and shoot it this weekend. I've heard great things about these little guns in .40 and their lack of recoil, so the 9mm should be a breeze.

want a smaller carry pistol? go for the springfield EMP!

wicked small, extremely well made..and from the looks of the barrel, it'll be pretty dang accurate!

:D

just my

I hope to hear how you like the M&P though!

He can almost buy 2 M&Ps for the price of an EMP. I had an M&P compact through the shop. Nice gun.

Not a SIG P239 but nice just the same.

How much are you getting for the SW 1911SC? You might want to consider selling instead of trading down. Is it blue or stainless?

Trading off is a rip off!

I think you will be happy with the M&P compact. I have the full size .40 and will be adding the .40 Compact. I just can’t decide if I want it or the M&P .45acp first.

I wouldn’t trade a 1911SC for one though.

My SC is a blue billboard model.

I've had very good luck with getting guns at Hero Gear. I got my 226, Stag AR, another S&W 1911, Beretta 1201FP, and the wife's Kel-Tec P32 through them. The 1911 SC came through their shop used when I picked it up. Trust me - I'm getting a good deal, like usual.

A few thoughts:

I traded this very 1911SC TO Demon about 6 months ago.

The gun was used at the time, and was one of the older models (old billboard style markings)

The real value of this gun would be around 600 bucks in a FTF sale

-so-

Demon ended up trading a well used (but good condition) 1911 + holster + ammo for a new in box M&P + holster (the very same Safariland he was trading in) + ammo + blackground for zero bucks out the door.

Keep in mind that when you trade a gun to a dealer, you save sales tax (9.25% here) which can end up representing a healthy savings to the customer.

I know there are dealers out there that will jack someone on a trade, but there ARE dealers that are fair when it comes to trades.

I ALWAYS give these options to my customers:

Cash price- The price I will sell my gun for

Trade price- The price I will sell my gun for, with the trade value factored in.

I also provide this info:

Street value- The value that we feel their trade is worth should they market and sell their firearm themselves.

We always explain that this is THE BEST option for them if they want to get the most out of their firearm

Consignment price-We will also offer to take the trouble of them having to sell their firearm, and do it for them. This gets them more than they would in a trade, but slightly less than they would by selling it themselves.

Some customers like this option, since they dont have to deal with rednecks trying to trade them 3 goats and a boat motor for their firearm

Anywho-

Demon was able to trade a gun, ammo, and holster he no longer wanted for a gun, holster, and ammo that he wanted. Not bad if you ask me

I've traded a few, and I've sold a few... Losing some money on a deal is bad if you're looking at it as a financial investment. To me, I must say that as a hobby, I can accept there to be some cost involved. And, as a means of protection, no price can be put on it.

So, whenever I can do so, I get the most for my firearms when I choose to pass them on... But if I must replace a gun, I must weigh the benefits of getting a new one, and the value of keeping the old one with the difference in my pocket (or, as more likely the case, from my pocket...)

I'm not a wealthy man, and have many other factors to weigh (do we really need MORE shoes?)... but the contents of the pocket is usually the deciding factor. Absent that, I would still have every gun I've ever purchased (minus the two Taurus products).

Joe put it very well, gotta understand the business perspective too...

Well said Joe. I've always felt comfortable dealing with Joe, Dan, Rodney, and Sammy. They treat me like family and that's hard to find any more. I've always liked the 1911s, but since I got the Sig 226, I've been wanting a smaller carry gun in 9mm as well. The 1911 carried good, but something smaller and lighter would be better. So, as I sit here with a M&P Compact on my hip, I feel like I did the right thing for me. I've missed my XD Sub-Compact since I got rid of it so this was a natural progression. The M&P feels better in the hand than the XD did and it carries very good. I think that I'll like this little gun for the long haul. I'm starting to save up my pennies for a new 1911. I'm thinking commander size bobtail in stainless with a Wilson Combat roll mark on it. It might take me a while before I can get it, but it'll be worth the wait.

My Tantal AK is supposed to ship any day now... 'course that's what Atlantic has been saying for a month. I'm looking forward to picking it up from H-G; I've been wanting to see about ordering an 1894C that I've been wanting, then, but my wife told me the other day that I can't buy anything for myself until after my birthday...

I wonder if putting something on layaway would get me in trouble, if I didn't pick it up until after? Hmmm...

I only had time to shoot a couple magazines through it last night before my son's baseball game. I didn't shoot at paper targets, but dirt clods at my new house. Seems like it's pretty accurate, as each time it went boom the clod was only dust afterwards. I've carried it for the last 2 days and it's very light and comfortable. I really like the changeable backstraps as I can taylor the gun to fit my hand perfectly. I thought that my sub-compact XD fit my hand good until I held one of these. The fit and finish are very good and I think that I'm going to like this one. I've got an OWB holster for it right now, but I'm thinking that I'll get an IWB for it in the very near future.

:D

You could do what I tried one time. Go ahead and get it and put it in the back of the gun safe. After a week or so feel free to get "caught" with it and when she says "Alright mister, just where the hell did THAT come from?" look her straight in the eye with a couple of well rehersed puppy dog eyes and simply reply- "Gosh honey, I just got it out of the gun safe a few minutes ago. Its been in there for quite a while. As a matter of fact I don't think I've had it out since I got it and I just thought I'd get it out and fiddle with it. By the way, did I tell you about the hit our son got that drove in the winning run and won the game last night".

That almost worked once. I swear I think I could have gotten away with it if I could have kept a straight face. :D Now, if you could get that to work the first time it'd work several times. If not, well, all I can say is whatever you do, don't try it again.

Good luck and oh, yeah ... don't forget to duck!
