I have several Heritage Arms single action revolvers and have never had an issue with any of them. The problem Astra900 describes is normally occuring when someone has dry-fired any rim fire pistol and ovaled out the face of the chamber causing unreliable primer strikes. The heritage is a great gun to learn on. Get him that one now and a Henry lever action, octagonal barrel .22 to match for his next special occasion. :D

THe gun has never been dry fired in it's life.

It almost acts like the firing pin is too short. Accuracy is so poor, I have never cared to put forth the effort to fix it.

S&W Forum. A guy had a bunch of brand new take offs from 586’s and was selling them.

The 617 is a K-frame so any Round Butt K or L frame grips will fit it.

Thanks, I'll have to look for a set.

Well, if that's the case I would have sent it back to Heritage when it was new.

Ruger Bearcat... in the $200's I think

+1 :tough: One of those would make an excellent gift from father to son.

I have 2 RBCs myself and look forward to getting my sons one each when they're old enough....if BHO will let me....:D

My dad has an old H&R 9 shot .22lr revolver that I'd love to have.

Others mentioned: Ruger Single Six and Heritage Arms are good gift ideas, too.:D

I like my Haritage pretty good. I bought it a few years ago and have had no problems with it. I couldn't afford anything more at the time, but I'm glad I got it.

As far as a revolver goes I would recommend the Taurus model 94 in stainless or blued (your choice) I love mine it is fun to shoot.

I just picked up an early christmas present that's a 22LR

I got a Beretta Neos U22 and it is pretty fun to shoot as well. I traded my S&W sigma 380 in on it and had to pay 70$ OTD with it

I still have my Hi-Standard Sentinel that I bought when I was 16 years old. It's now 50+ years old. Still shoots great. One gun that I will never sell, my one son is waiting in line.

Well, it may not be cheap, but here's, by far, the coolest .22 revolver to come out in years! http://www.usfirearms.com/cat/12-22.asp

US announced about 2 years ago they were going to start building the Colt Woodsman 1st Gen again. I'm still waiting. All of their guns I've handled are of the finest quality. They are housed in the old Colt Factory and apparently acquired a lot of the original blueprints from Colt.
