M1 Carbine, deep clean, new development

Recommended Posts

Stripped down

Liberally applied CLP

Will re apply tomorrow after I  get access to my bother in law's air compressor.

Replaced hammer and guide spring.

Anything I am missing or should address?

Recommend lubricant to keep it running well?

A tiny bit of lube, and by lube I mean grease, wouldn't hurt on those sliding surfaces.  Like where the bolt slides in the receiver.

Need a light grease for that.  I've always used Tetra gun grease.  Use stuff designed for cars at your own risk.

Get the CLP out of the piston if you flooded that.  It needs to be dry.

I haven't seen the Tetra for sale locally, will keep my eyes open, thanks for the recommendation.

I've got some old fashion Riggs gun grease on hand.

Btw, love your avatar When I see it,  I simply substitute your screen name for Fred Garvin then mentally complete the line...cracks me up every time.

I hear it’s not hard with the tool; Fulton has them for $40. I did it without the tool. I took my time and worked inside a plastic bag so I didn’t have to find parts when they went flying. It’s been a long time ago; I don’t remember it being that hard. But I think I discovered I didn’t have enough hands and my wife had to help.
