Wanting to Tacticool a 10/22

A week ago, I took my 10 yr. old through the Youth Firearms class at Range USA in Memphis. (Awesome class for youngsters by the way.) We spent about 1 1/2 hours on the range and he was able to shoot anything he wanted. He even pulled the trigger on a SIG 9mm a few times. He kept going back to a GSG5 rifle. If you haven't seen it, it's a .22 copy of a H&K that looks really sweet. He begged for one but I just can't bring myself to lay out $500 for a .22. We have a Ruger 10/22 (unmodified with standard barrell) that I could "tacticool" up for him to enjoy. :D

I'm not looking to buy a $300 stock for it but I have seen a $100 Tapco stock that looked pretty good. Has anyone used one of these?

Other suggestions for most "tacticool" for the buck?

My brother did the Tapco stock for his son and he loves it. It has enough rails on it to mount a lot of Tacticool stuff. You should find one for a lot less than $100.

+1 on the Butler Creek folding stock. Opened up the barrel channel to fit my .920 Green Mountain fluted stainless steel barrel. Pleased, and no problems so far. The 14 yo son of my girlfriend now thinks he HAS to have one on the other 10-22 that he uses when we shoot .22s. (Might just happen too!)

I also have folding Butler Creeks on both of my Mini 30s (one S/S, one blue) and am please with those as well. Same "folder" with different "stock design".
