Another attack in France

Some butt muffin just drove a truck through a crowd of people celebrating bastille day, got out and open fired before being down by the good guys. Reports are 50-60 dead, over 100 injured.

This crap isn't going to stop. Condolences to the lost and their families.

That link is broken.

cowards going after soft targets.

Seriously, these people know they are going to be killed, so it is effectively suicide while killing innocent.

Seriously, even if they think they are making the world better in their eyes, they aren't going to be around for it.

I will never understand anyone that had a mind set Kill others because they are ready to die (Suicide).

It makes no sense to me, and honestly I never want to understand it to that level.

(insert something meaningful)  as I am at a loss for words right now.

Just saw this a few minutes ago while checking news. Damn....

77 dead per that report. Watched 2 videos, one showing the truck hit and the second showing some of the aftermath. Terrible.

Trying to read some more of the reports but said the truck (driver, passengers?) were shooting at the crowd too?

Watching the news, reported the driver was shooting into the crowd, swerving to hit people, and truck was packed with explosives and other weapons. If the explosives part is true then very good did not get a chance to blow them and take more lives. If weapons were in the back I wonder if they were intended for someone to grab and join the carnage - police may have stopped him before getting to a rally point? There will be a bunch of WAG for a few days until something else distracts the media.

It will be hard for us to ever know the truth in any great detail, but hopefully it will come out in time.

I am frustrated with the weak attempts to make this about anything but terrorism. I won't argue reasons that terrorists do this stuff. It's waste time.  What really bothers me is that unless a coherent plan to go after or interdict  these groups can be executed and quickly that it will continue to spread, ultimately to the USA.r. This may be isis or some other group but they need to learn that such attacks will net go under punished... we have our own problems here with BLM and more fringe groups. Civil protest is a right here, civil unrest is not. Our future will not be bright if we just tear ourselves apart...

May all those injured recover quickly, and those that passed rest in peace.

Prayers go out for all of the Victums in the most recent attack in France. It is a shame that these things keep happening but until ISIS is stopped and all buried in a big hole in the sand these things will continue to spread..........jmho

Western country leaders lack the guts to do what needs to be done to deal with ISIS.  There is no reason that ISIS should have a functioning nation within Syria.  Why have the power supplies, gas lines, food, and water lines not been cut off to the ISIS cities?

That's already happening, but it's a difficult and complex issue.

Once ISIS is defeated, the Iraqis are going to have to try to put their country back together. Various sects already don't like one another very much (understatement), so the ones in power have to be mindful of how their actions will be perceived. If the Shia government is perceived as using ISIS as an opportunity to oppress the Sunni minority through cutting off their power and water, there will be a price to pay later and they know it, even if that wasn't the actual intent.

Toss in the fact that ISIS has in the past (not sure if they still do) controlled some of Iraq's hydroelectric dams and will continue to try to take them in the future, it gets harder to "cut them off". It's hard to turn off someone's electricity when they have their own generation and grid system. The longer ISIS has to shore up themselves as a "real" government, the harder it is to employ methods like that. As for food, they took over large government food granaries and are using that, plus what they can bring in on the black market. that's temporary as it will run out, but as long as they can keep that going, shutting down food imports is rather ineffective.

You're pretty much describing what happened in the first place and they didn't need ISIS to justify it.  The country had a Shia majority parliament, and al-Maliki was never good as a unifying figure.  While the US had troops there, we learned quickly that the Iraqi government didn't care if we all but flattened Sunni areas like Fallujah or Ramadi, but anything done in Shia enclaves like Sadr City would cause political problems very quickly.  The only time the al-Maliki government took action against other Shia groups was more to do with a threat to his rule than for the betterment of the country.  Pretty much everything he did in power was designed to put Shia groups loyal to him in control, bring the ones opposed to him under thumb, then marginalize the Sunni and Kurds.  He wasn't turning off the water flow, but Sunni groups felt shut out of the power structure.  They even boycotted the government off and on for a while.

The Middle East being what it is...Maliki was the symptom, not the cause.  Someone else would just do the same things as he did.  A unified Iraq as the map is drawn today isn't something that can be kept by a democratic process.  Why we continue to float that pipe dream is beyond me.

These people know nothing but war and killing, they were raised as kids to hate.

It's time for drastic measures imo.

Close our borders and if our military hasnt been desimated too badly in the past eight years, unleashed everything our military has to offer and don't let up.

This is the perfect counterpoint to those that rally to take away our gun rights after any kind of terrorist attack. I've been saying all along, just wait until the bad guys get tired of picking people one by one off with a gun. It took the Orlando terrorist three hours and he killed 50 people. This guy in France kills almost double that in less than a minute. And it could have been even worse if he had been able to carry his plan out to the end.

A person with evil in their heart will find a way to kill people. Taking away the gun from good people is ridiculous. Are we going to see politicians rallying to enact any kind of legislation restricting Semi Truck ownership? Of course not. But why not? Turns out the Semi is way more deadly than an AR-15.

And, in the end, it was good guys with guns that eventually end every one of these conflicts.
