That Bullpup Life

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I had been wanting to own a Bullpup rifle for years. I almost bought and FS2000 years ago, but decided to plop the money down on an Arsenal AK instead. Then the Tavor comes along and I kinda fell in love with it.

This year at SHOT show, IWI announced they were going to release the Tavor in my favorite modern caliber, 300 Blackout. I finally decided to take the plunge. I preordered a Tavor SAR 300blk  back in March. Initially, they were supposed to be released in April/May so I wanted to go ahead and get an order out there. Then it gets pushed from May to July. Back at NRAAM, I got to play with one and really fell in love. Then Tuesday I find out that they have been delayed until Q1 2017.

I can't wait that long, especially with Hillary potentially becoming president in November so I went ahead and ordered a normal Tavor. Just picked it up. So I guess I'm finally in that Bullpup life. I love this thing. Anyone else into bullpups? Here's my new rifle:

Man, I really like those but I don't know if it's something I could justify buying.

I'm personally really looking forward to the Desert Tech MDR

Supposed to be the best of every weapon system to date all in one. Trigger is said to be exceptional. 2.5-3 lb match trigger is how it was designed, with the ability to increase the weight with springs if necessary. It hasn't been released yet and has been delayed several times but I think it will be the best bullpup bar none when it does come out. Standard chassis takes .308 or 5.56. Conversion kit for blackout on launch, with more on the way. Standard 16" version is 26" OAL (legal). Compact version with 10.5" bbl is same length as a P90.

Somehow I missed this post in my weekly to lurking and wanted to ruin your hopes before the thread aged any more. I liked my tavor for a few years. I hate Iwi.us carrot on a stick marketing bs.  Now, I hate my tavor. For years I have been waiting on a 300blk conversion. Iwi.us needs to shut up, it ain't happening.  the original announcement of a 5.45x39 conversion was the sign to avoid the platform if conversion were of interest.

You can spend seven ben's and convert to 9mm. Then somehow convince yourself it is better than a tnw asp or asr because it is a tavor platform. Or just............

wait for it, another carrot on a stick marketing blast for a 300blk tavor coming soon to keep your hopes alive so you don't sell your tavor for another ar.

I think the 300blk is more likely to happen now that the Israelis are testing the round for battlefield use. They have barrels in full manufacture as well. The biggest hold up here in the US is Remington. Israel wants 50k proof loads and Remington doesn't want to produce. That's the biggest hold up. They have the barrels. Israel is testing the round for adoption. Remington proof loads is the massive hold up. I have been in pretty close contact with them through both IWI US and a supplier.

I normally could care less about "battle rifles", but the Tavor thing is a great idea... The 300BO idea is probably the best in a long time... The Israelis are developing a great battlefield tool... Even i like this one...

I'm sure they have a few barrels. They have been promoting the 300blk conversion for two years and talking about it longer. Meanwhile,  iwi-us has had some pretty serious screw ups. lower on ace pistol - doe!  That took six months for resolution to be announced to owners. stop making barrels for other manufacturers and focus on the product line..... or gag the marketing staff.

If they don't, I'm sure we can get the shop that first made Tavor 300blk to look into going into production with them. Also, Gearhead Werks is also a local company so we'd be supporting a TN company.

I love my Tavor the only thing I hate is the fact it almost cost as much to buy the 9mm conversion kit as it cost for my 556 based Tavor new.  Why are those conversion kits so expensive.
