I have a commando mark 45 I know they were made in knoxville. Info is hard to come by. Most say that they take grease gun magazines. Mine sure do look like Thompson (auto ordance). I thought someone might know since they were made local. Thanks for any info

I also found this. I'm no expert, so I can not claim it to be factual.

Their sheet metal clones of the tommy gun included Commando

Mark III using M3 grease gun clips, Mark V using Thompson clips,

Mark 9 in 9mm and an improved Mark V called Mark 45.

Notice the bolt handle is on the LEFT side of the receiver.

Weight was about eight pounds (compared to eleven for the Thompson).

Volunteers Enterprises sold magazines in five-shot, thirty-shot

and three thirties welded in a Y configuration.

Found this as well.

Volunteer Enterprises Volunteer Carbine ( Early round upper ) Greasegun mags

Volunteer Enterprises Volunteer Carbine ( Later square upper ) Greasegun mags

Commando Arms Commando Mark III ( Square upper ) Greasegun mags

Commando Arms Commando Mark 45 ( Square upper ) Thompson mags

Commando Arms Commando Mark 9 ( Square upper ) Greasegun mags

Manchester Arms Commando Mark 45 ( Square upper ) Thompson mags

Manchester Arms Commando Mark 9 ( Square upper ) Sten mags

Manchester Arms Mini Commando 45 Pistol ( Square upper ) Thompson mags

Manchester Arms Mini Commando 9 Pistol ( Square upper ) Sten mags

Also it should be noted that the Thompson mags have been modified by elongating the magazine catch for the Commando's. They were opened up towards the top of the mag catch hole. So if you were to use one of these mags in a Thompson you would need to push up on the mag in order for it to feed properly. If your Commando uses Greasegun mags your frame is aluminum, Thompson and Sten mags have Thermoplastic frames.

Thanks for the info I found a pair that looks like what I have on gunbroker item 118808411. I don't think the grease gun would work because the extra metal around the wouldn't let it fit. Too many variables for me I'm not that up to speed on this gun. bought it more for novelty Thanks again for help

Years ago ago I had one that took modified Thompson stick mags.  All I had to do to make Thompson mags work was file the round hole in the rear spine so that it for the magazine catch.

Find some cheap 30rd mags and have fun.

Do you know is there a link of how to modify an M3 grease gun magazine to fit a Commando Mark 45
