Whitehall Jewerly is closing all of their 450 stores. If you have one near you they are dropping all prices by 70-80% and then knocking off another 20% from that price.

I bought some nice pieces for my wife at unbelievable prices for Christmas.

Get ready, the same company who owns them also owns Goody's and KBee Toys. Word on the street is that they might be closing some or all of those stores as well, so there might be more bargains to be had shortly!

So don't buy gift cards this holiday!

Yep, the Goodfriends sold it just in time.

I remember the Goodfriend's store in Athens, TN when I was growing up. It was a good place to shop. I remember reading that he had been unseated from his chair back in '93 or so and regained his seat as CEO and basically got rid every one of the old board members from a couple years earlier. I think all that hoopla got started because of him mentioning something about taking the company private again. Once he finally took it private in 2005, Bob stepped aside. (just some TN business info to be aware of)

I had to step into a mall just yesterday and saw that the KB toys looked like a wasteland, with 50% off signs hanging everywhere, no gift cards being sold, and signs stating "as is, no returns".

I went to the last open Whitehall store in Memphis today. It's closing in about four days. I bought a pair of diamond solitaire earrings and a diamond tennis bracelet for the wife. It all came to a little over $400, and was originally priced at about $2000. At prices like these buy what you can. If not as a gift, then as an investment.

I grew up there, too, knew the family. Bob's older sister my age, still see her once in a blue moon.

Used to play Spin The Bottle at her house in grammar school. Wow, that was some hot stuff alright. Anybody under 60 even know what STB is (or was)?

I don't even know which stores are still running here in Ktown. The big one in Brainerd in 'Nooga closed a couple months ago, I noticed.

In relation to the previous sentence, I'm gonna guess that you're referring to Stealing The Bacon??

I think the Goody's in Dyersburg is still open. I worked at the one in Martin TN when I was in college. You laugh, working in the only store like that other than Walmart, in a college town was great! :koolaid:

The only downside to buying at whitehall is that if it breaks your stuck with it. I recently bought a bracelet for the girlfriend that was right under $1,000 at Marks and Morgan and it broke on the 1st day! Needless to say I returned it, got a refund, and bought her some amazing "build your own" diamond stud earrings from bluenile.com that I highly recommend. However whitehalls prices were pretty enticing.

I think todays generation still plays it, but instead of a coke bottle. They use either a beer bottle or whiskey. And it's progressed from a kiss with maybe a touch to a ****buddy for the night. I think thats where the STDs come in.
