Can't comment on where to rent from as I have several friends that I borrow canoes and kayaks from.  When it's crowded put in at Happy Hollow 7 miles down from the dam that's where most people take out, even on the busiest weekends the river won't be crowded past there.  I don't like to paddle much past the take out on highway 264 because the water gets pretty still past there.  Dam to 264 is about 15 miles. Which is an easy over nighter our can be done in a day, especially of generation is good.

Where do you camp overnight?  I love the Caney, but my understanding was that most of the land was private.
