Hello to all, new to Tennessee and new to the forum. I just picked up a brand new FN SCAR 17S in FDE, I've already got upgrades on the way for it, looking for optics now. I've got a 1-4x vortex pst on it now but looking for something else. I want something to be able to shoot at moderate ranges 100-500 meters but also to engage targets in possible CQB situations. Any help or suggestions would be helpful, also I just got approved for my ccw license how long do they usually take to receive in the mail. Thanks in advance for your replies, it shoots like a dream.  Here a few pics sorry for the poor lighting

It’s a rifle; you don’t need sights for CQB.

Actually, the 16" barrel makes it pretty much a carbine.

First establish a budget, then your primary usage.  If the moderate ranges are the primary usage, I'd suggest something like a 2-7x or similar. Nightforce makes a 2.5-10x32 that would be excellent if you could budget that. Then a set of 45 degree offset irons. That would cover from point blank out to 1000 yards, although I'd like more magnification for that long out. It would be plenty for 500yards, Chris Kyle only had a max magnification of 10x when he made his 2100yd shot.

Head over to fnforum.net and go to the Forum>FN SCARS Forum>SCAR Accesories Scopes & Mods> Optics for your SCAR 16 and 17 folder. There is 26 pages of reviews on optics for your SCAR. Including Nightforce, Leupold, Elcan, Trijicon. Vortex...yadda, yadda, yadda. Lots of SCAR specific information there.
