KCI AK Drum

Anyone have experience with the Korean made KCI steel drum for the AK? Wondering if they're junk or good to go. If junk, any suggestions on a good one? I don't mind spending an extra $20-30 for a good one, but don't want to spend that extra if it's not necessary.

I'd say they're probably pretty decent.  They are the clock spring winding type.  Those seem to work best and are SO much easier to load.

The KCI seems to be about same price as the Romanian one, which for sure works.

I found a KCI for $60. The cheapest I can find on a Romy is $80. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the KCI and had any issue with it to know if the 33% higher price of the Romy is worth it.

If it were me I'd stay away from it. I bought some South Korean mags today on the recommendation of another member but I won't trust them until I run three full mags thru each of them. I would personally avoid KCI just like I avoid Crapco. If that's all you can get then go for it but if you ever had to use this drum is your life worth 33% more?

KCI AK mags have been awful for me. Worse than Tapco. Don't know about the drums, but I'd have to see a lot of positive trusted reviews before I would use one. IMO the higher cost of the Romanian or better yet Chinese is worth every penny.

That being said the 9mm Glock mags i have, have been great.

Looking around briefly, I guess they have gone up. I paid 60 something for my (new) Romy about a year ago.

Yeah, I missed out on those $65 specials from CAI and J&G.

Thanks for the info on other KCI products. Now that I think about it, I think my brother has a KCI happy stick that makes his Glock a Jam-O-Matic.

I'll stick to East-bloc, or Chinese if I can find one.

I would STRONGLY suggest getting a drum that you can leave loaded without the rounds being under spring tension. Those are the ones you wind up after they are loaded.
