I've spent a lot of money at Academy Sports, but....

I just got back from Walmart in Franklin, they had no ARs on the Shelf. An employee, when I asked, told me that they had a memo come out that said that corporate desided that the sight of them in their stores was no longer family-friendly, so they were taken off the shelf and are no longer being sold there...as of now.

Not that I needed a reason to stay out of Walmart but it is office supplies for my shop.....

The Cape Girardeau, Mo store had 3 Ar's advertised this week in ad that came in newspaper.  I went inside the store to look at scopes and no AR's out for display.   I didn't ask a worker if they had any in stock.

I though Walmart dumped AR's over a year ago.  They were slashing prices to ridiculously low levels.

That's about the time ours quit carrying them.

The sight of an AR isn't family friendly?  Neither is a restroom at Target. :squint:

East towne and Halls Walmarts had ARs a few days before Orlando. BTW, Walmart has also discontinued the sale of "defensive/tactical", their words not mine, shotguns. They also marked down all accessories for ARs. Picked up a few $100 stocks for $50 and a few $50 grips for $15 when they had their sale on AR specific accessories.

Thought they were all removed about a year ago nationwide, so that's surprising.

The gun salesmen need to realize that it will be a long time before they see a politician that can sell guns like Obama. I'm thinking the panics are over for a little while. The Trump guys are talking the straight NRA line.

I was at Academy today and they had a wide selection of ARs in many varieties.

They weren't gone but for a month or two in the two stores I ever frequent, one in Knox and one in Nooga.

LOL! Put em up when they'll sell, and drag em out when the rush is over. What a business model!

Yep.  They've had the evil ones back in the racks for a while now so any random child passing by can see them.   The horror.

They're gonna see them anyway, now that we have President Camacho :)

Here's the thing as far as I'm concerned,  they removed both of their testicles when they took ARs of the shelf, they only got one of them back when they put the ARs back out.  They will have to do something spectacular to earn the other one back.

As far as I am concerned they can get used to dusting them.

If it makes you guys feel any better I dumped three of them on the floor while getting one off the rack the other night to show someone.

That's why I don't buy off the racks at big box stores.  I always ask to examine one still in the box.

That's the first time I've seen it happen since I've been there. I still would not want to buy a rack gun. They get handled to much and usually have marks from the rack itself

We are in total agreement on this. I have about all I think I'll reasonably need in my lifetime, but it is still disheartening to see all the PC BS that has intruded into all aspects of our lives now.

Retailers are getting pressured by public opinion polls, people supposedly representing "large numbers" of concerned citizens, and of course the thumb twisting in the board rooms by the feds. It is exasperating.

And 98% of those people polled and representing "large numbers" of people don't even shop in the stores.
