Lee die reassembly

Recommended Posts

I took apart my Lee resizing and decapping die ( 9mm pistol ) apart to clean and lubricate it. When reassembling it , is there a certain amount of length that I need to have the "de-priming pin" hanging out of the bottom of the die ? Any help is appreciated . I cant seem to find any information on Lee's website nor my owners manual .

Probable a 1/16th of an inch or so. It doesn't make a lot of difference, as long as it'll knock out a primer and size the entire case mouth.

Lee says to make the top of the rod flush with the nut on top.

This is Lee's advice. Their design uses a friction collet to hold the pin. Snug the collet up and size a case or two. The pin will slip in the collet to the right level, then tighten the collet good & tight...

Protruding far enough to reliably decap without hitting the bottom of the case.  With the nut on top adjusted loose enough to let the rod slide through it, let the rod protrude too far.  With a decapped case in the shellholder, raise the ram of your reloading tool to push the loose depriming rod to where it will be at the top of the stroke.  Raise it a bit more and snug down the nut.

I got it fixed . Thanks guys !  Also I guess I was frustrated and didn't see in the manual about how it says to push the decapping pin flush to the top clamping bolt (collet) .

 Yep! That's all you need.
