Change of address?

I went to the DMV to get my address changed on my permit, and the lady said they couldn't print them there. :) (This was at the straw plains office)

Any idea how long it will take to come from Nashville? I did this like two weeks ago and nothing yet. We're going on a 10 hr road trip into VA next week and I'd like to be able to carry up there.

FWIW, the lady gave me a copy of the usual application with a sticker on it that says it acts as my permit until the copy comes in the mail. I don't really trust this to hold water in VA....
