If you hold a gun, either Mosin, Enfield or Springfield or Mauser correctly, this recoil/bruising issue is mute. Learn to shoot, gentlemen.:P;):tinfoil:

I was banned from another forum for calling out an individual that was complaining about his AR15 recoil.... WTF???, is all I have to say. Get on that gun appropriately and recoil isn't an issue. If you don't know how to do that, send me a PM and we'll get together and I'll teach you how to hold that gun, shoot that gun and then I'll let you try to teach me how to shoot my 500 Cape-buffalo gun.

Folks, C&R is not for Pansy's. Go get yourself an AR or AK if you can't handle a real rifle.

I don't want to hear any more about it.

As I'm a moderator now, (evil giggle), you all had better learn to shoot these rifles.

Do I need to hold a clinic? The 7.62x54R is comparable to the 30.06, the 7.92 Mauser for felt recoil. I'll be more than happy to show anyone how to shoot those rifles, either one-on-one or in groups. PM me. I'm available to teach anyone how to shoot these.

It's almost embarrassing to let you post how it hurts to shoot these. Dudes and Dudets, if it hurts, you are doing it wrong.

Learn to get on that gun, first.

Okay, my weekly rant is exhausted. PM me, we'll get together and learn some things.

heck doesn't at least half of the fun from shooting come from felt recoil?

The other half comes from muzzle flash!

My WIFE shoots .308...

I've fired both my 8mm Mauser and my M-44 Mosin..and I LOVE them.

all I can say is +1 to ya Glenn.

you're absolutely right about holding the rifle correctly.

if my wife can shoot a .308 rapid fire (remember that day when she shot down the tree on the range, Mike? ) I'm pretty sure you guys can handle a lil ole Mosin. ;)

plus, its pretty cool to send a round down range that's about the size of a submarine. :)

Okay, Mike...

Now, you want to try something has a little oomph to it, I did manage to pick up a 45-70 Springfield trapdoor at that gunshow back in June.

Actually, it isn't bad at all. I think the worst thing I can think of in terms of recoil was when a friend of mine slipped some 3" mag buckshot into my coachgun and handed it back to me. That tickled, a bit.

I think I shot the trapdoor back in the summer, as I remember is was very managable. The coachgun with mag loads would be comparable to a ball bat, LOL.

When you get back we need to have another milsurp shoot!

Elliott I remember that tree, who needs chainsaws with submarine sized cartridges?

All this talk has me itching to shoot the M44, the neighbors might not like me this weekend.

Right now, I'm pierside, in Bahrain. I'm looking at late March for coming home.

But yeah, we ought to get together, have dinner somewhere. Guess we're the "been there, done that" club.

Just, please - not beets.

Yeah Im waiting for you to get back so I can get that naigent from you. You be safe & take care of yourself & have a Merry Christmas even though you are away at the moment.

just bought two m44 mosins from gander mtn for 99 bucks a pop. their guns were pretty decent also they werent junk. one of the m44's is a tula. most of their stock was m44 they had a couple of 91/30's. they said they were going to continue to stock them. they have the 440 round surplus fmj, for 75 bucks, but they have been out of it. they stock the softpoints, and pretty much keep them in stock.

When I was a kid I remember my dad picking through a barrel at a hardware store in Grand Junction until he found the best one. Must have been about 1970. I think he paid $25.00 for it. My brother has it now. We shot it several times as kids at Indians disguised as tin cans on fence posts.

I'm back - my internet connection routes through satellite, then through some undersea fiber cable. Lost the cable due to an undersea quake, they've just managed to get it repaired....

I'm thinning out my milsurp collection when I get home - I have one Mosin (already claimed), a Savage made Lee-Enfield, a swiss mauser, and an unissued/unfired Yugo mauser, all are going to be looking for new homes. A milsurp shoot sounds good; I'll be shooting either a Garand or a carbine.

Bent bolt Husqvarna (I think - might be a gustav) M38 short rifle, un-bubba'd, with stock disk. Beautiful bore, good wood, overall VG+ to Excellent, $250 or swap/partial swap for older Colt or S&W.

Samco still has a few, they are wanting $330 for 'em, link below. Bought mine maybe 15 years ago, have some ammo, some components to go with it if I can find 'em. Put a box through it, cleaned it, put it away, intending to reload for it because of the accuracy potential. Never got off the water long enough to fool with it.

Nice, low-recoil, fun to shoot. 6.5x55 is an impressive round.
