I like how it looks in the pictures on Gunbroker. It will be few days before I see it in real life.

It's my fourth C&R purchase in two months. I've begun to face the fact that my C&R FFL will not actually save me any money. :ugh:

. . .Don't shoot it much. Those Mosins like to kick.

I got one of these for my 91/30 and it helps a lot.

Maybe the recoil is tolerable if you're wearing a heavy coat suitable for Siberian winters, but not for this skinny guy wearing a tee shirt.

I admit the Moisin Nagant has some kick to it. But man up I say. Hold that rifle to the shoulder and fire away.

What would have happened on the Eastern Front if Ivan had refused to fight because he needed a pad on the butt of his rifle?

if recoil is a problem then get a 22, LOL

Ivan had a big ol' thick coat. He was good to go.

That and the anesthetic powers of vodka. . .:koolaid:

puuuurty! :koolaid: now you need a couple of cases of ammo for it!

as for the kick....

what was that comparison that Mark@sea posted between a mosin nagant, an ar and an ak?

they said the 2nd shot on a Mosin was useful for putting your shoulder back into place from the first shot...

that being said, here's mine...

The M38 arrived today. I just ordered it on Monday. UPS Ground from New York, no less. I'm impressed!

So now I clean out the cosmoline, grab my heavy winter coat, some vodka and try it out.

My first deer rifle was a sporterized 1903 Springfield. I was 12. Please explain the recoil of the Mosin? How much more is it than, say, a 98k? a 1903 Springfield? or a 300 WM 700? These guns are fine to shot as long as you "get on in it" right.

Thank you. That is my point exactly.

The largest felt recoil I have had was with Tower's Mauser. I thought that kicked way harder then my Moisin Nagant. Put it to the shoulder, and hold it like a man and all is good.

Actually, my point was they must be riding on the short bus to the range. Hey, I've shot Perry with an 03 and Garand.

I thought the recoil on the Mosin acceptable , normal. Guess I'll go sit at the old fart's table. Ya'll shot a real rifle, lately? Damn, I must be getting old.

If I go to the range with a Mil-surp bolt rifle, and don't leave with a purple bruise, I don't feel satisfied.:tinfoil: I usually put 100-140 rounds of Turkish surplus (very hot stuff BTW) through my Yugo 24/47; when I take it to range:shrug:

Some people are very recoil sensitive. I was VERY recoil sensitive when I was a teenager. I decided I wanted to shoot old guns with gobs and gobs of horsepower sooo.....I got over it. Shoulder it, cheek up and take it like ya got a pair.
