and ALL security guards must qualify with the weapon they are going to use. This is for the armed guard license. not the company.

Well with HB0046 passing out of the commitee, this could all be moot soon. Since apparently the bill even removes the make, model and caliaber of the gun used for the class. So the state will no longer have a record of what type of gun you used in the class.

You don't "qualify" with the gun in your original HCP course. You simply shoot at a target you must hit a certain amount of times, doesn't matter if they are all in the 10 ring or 7 ring. You don't even have to own the gun you shoot. I've heard of many instructors stop counting once the required number of hits were reached. Isn't the firing range portion a simple Pass/Fail and not actually scored?

It's just another piece of paper that IMO is not needed, if the state wanted you to "qualify" or actually shoot each specific gun you carried they would require it. It's sort of like why I hate the HCP badge. The badge gives into the misconception that only those with badges should carry guns in public. Well this supports the misconception that if you don't meet certain standard with your specific carry weapon you are some how less justified to carry that weapon or open to more liability.

I don't need a reason to shoot, if I want to..I go shoot...and I don't have to give anyone $10 to do it.

I tried to say never mind, and just let it go before anyone else posed in the thread.

I am the law in this house...LOL... :D

After reading this whole thread (I was bored at work)....I'll say that my instructor knew that I had had previous training before and that my range practices were of the "militarized" kind. Being the only "large" caliber handgun in class with my Kimber Pro Carry I received a little extra attention along with various questions as to why I chose the weapon. The instructor, during the qualifying session, left me alone and helped the ladies and other people whom didn't have any experiance. There was no actual scoring of my target. The instructor walked into my lane, looked at the ragged hole center mass of the target, shrugged his shoulders and said, "Figures." He smiled and wrote Pass 50/50 100% on the upper left hand of the target.

Funny thing is I actually carry a smaller caliber handgun then what I "qulified" with.
