Well in my uneducated opinion, it will make a great backpack gun, Ie taking small game in order to survive. It does not appear to be built to withstand long range sessions. I figured I would take it out and put 4 or 5 mags through it and clean it and put it in my bug out bag. That way If I get caught out and need to make a meal I will have a better chance.

I have a U.S. Survival rifle as well. I like, it's a great shooter. However, I bought it used and it didn't work so well. I called up Henry Repeating Arms and explained the problem to them. They sent me a UPS label to return the gun, they worked on it, and returned it 3 wks later.

I works perfectly now. I have shot about 150 rounds through it with 0 malfunctions. Is it a tack driver? No (not that I'm that great of a shot either), but it will get the job done. Like you, mine went into my "go bag".

I have shot CCI Mini-Mags and Remington Bulk ammo through it with no problems. Just remember to avoid the "hyper-velocity" ammo (the user manual says not to use it and I think that's what the previous owner used in it and why it stopped working).

I'd post pictures of mine, but I haven't taken any yet.
