Sure seems to be a great way for the government to serve their citizens.

Why not just lock them up.

Clerical error? Don't worry about it, just pay it again.

clearly a government operation.

I have off and on worried some change will happen and I won't be able to prove i made 2 out of state tickets many years ago.  I held onto the receipt for afew years but they got lost.

There should be a limit to how far they can go back, probably is but I don't know.

I have heard of cases like this and some people actually still had prove of payment.  Like some of those listed over 1,000 fines.  They should have some bank statement of some kind they can get their hands on.

I certainly wouldn't pay that much in cash or money order.   Check/Bank Check, cashier's check, or  counter check from the bank.

in my case both when I was much younger and being out of state I only had cash on me to pay up.  Both nearly 20 years back, so pretty unlikely.

But I have hear of places converting to computer records and losing paper work during the input process and people getting fines years later so it does happen.
