New Home Builders in E TN

Ok, so this is something of a random question for a gun-owners' forum, but here it is:

The Better Half and I are considering purchasing a plot of land in Eastern TN, and have no idea how much building costs are out here, or who to really talk to. Yeah, I know, go talk to a Realtor, but I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with builders, know a good one to talk to for estimates and very rough ideas, or is one. Trust me - any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks .

Depending on what you want as far as finishes in the house, you will be looking at approximately $80 to $110 per square foot to build the house, not including the land.

East TN is a wide area. Want to narrow the scope down to say Knoxville area, Tri-Cities, Lenior City, etc... Lake front, lake view, mountain view, in the mountains etc.. Rarity Bay has some very nice lots, Townsend in the Smokies is very nice.

nraforlife: . Knoxville area. Northish and westish a bit. We have isolated the land, so there is no worries about that... just looking for a builder to try and get some idea of total costs.

are you buying a lot in a subdivision or acreage?

If it is in a subdivision there may well be a minimum square foot build allowed there.

In a field next to us in east knox county they are building homes. Lots go for about $50,000 and you have to build a 2000 sq foot minimum house on it.

Not cheap and no wonder in four years they have only built about ten homes.

Subdivision, and there is - 2700 sqft. A bit large for my tastes, but we can build close to that.

'Course, we might just be the smallest house in the neighborhood, too...
