Ammo prices

Went to Academy Sports last night and picked up some Monarch .223 (may not be the best ammo but I haven't had any problems with it). Used to be $5.49 for a 20 rd box now up to $6.29. I guess it will continue to go up from what I hear.

Yes, and that $5.49 is actually $0.20 more than it was a month ago. I guess that will be the trend until the mess is over

Supply/demand.

My guess is once O takes office and there is no immediate attack on gun ownership, buying frenzy will lessen and supply/prices of both most firearms (perhaps not AR/AK) and ammo will stabilize back to pre-election levels. At least for a while.

Look at gasoline; I would have bet half the farm that US would NEVER again see price under $2/gallon...even maybe $3. Although I expect to see $5/gal within 2 years or less.

Yeah i remember back a month or so ago when I planned on buying a 5.45x39 upper cause the 1080 surplus tins were only $119.00 Now that they are up to $229.00 per 1080 I think im just gonna sell what I have and go the .223 route if/when I ever get an AR.

Wed., the 10th, Academy's prices went up. They bought through 2nd quarter '09 but sold more, and more quickly, than they projected. Since that happened (the ammo that they bought for '09 at '08 prices being "gone") they had to get more ammo paying the more current and higher costs. So the increase in their pricing got passed on to their consumers.

The last cases of .308 168 gr FGMM I bought was a couple of years ago and worked out to $14.90 per box of 20. I picked a few boxes (all they had), last spring for $16.90/box, now it's $30+ if you can find it. Ouch.
