accurate 2495 for .308

Haven't been able to find varget can get decent supply of the 2495 anyone have a decent load with this and a 175gr bullet? I loaded 5 with .10 off the lands at accurate's starting charge was not impressed...

It works well with lighter bullets. It's very bulky stuff.

Probably not the best choice for heavier bullets.

plus one.  for 308 i use and like 4895.

There are a bunch of widely available, common powders that I think would work better for you than 2495.

IMR4895, 4198, 4064, 3031, 4350, 8208 H4895, H4198, Win 748, CFE 223, XBR.....

Varget isn't your only, or probably best, option. Edited by robtattoo

My best .308 loads thus far have been with AA2460 and IMR 4166

 

IMR 4166 was a REAL pleasant surprise for me.  Happened upon it by accident and my FN FNAR Competition will eat it and spit out ragged holes under 2 inches all day.  ....AND that's a 20 round magazine, not some 3 round group that tells nothing but lies.

Thanks for all the reply guys I'm gonna try some 4895 as soon as I can find some, powder here local is real scarce. I was able to find some varget today gun shoots 1/2 min with it prob could do better but I only load for 223/308 so that's why I stick with it
