Case knife passed down

I had a Uncle Pass recently and he left me this Case Knife. I know there are hundreds of variants on each type when it comes to Case. after some research it looks like it's 1960's time frame or earlier and it looks like someone has customized it for sure

What do you mean by refinishing it?

Cleaning up, looks like some spots are dull and blade has spots on it... Possibly take it a part and clean and polish it real good.. Thoughts?

I'd use this on the metal surfaces to clean it.

 

Then this once it's clean.

 

 

As far as non-metal surfaces maybe a soft toothbrush and mild dish soap then dry it out completely.....and I mean completely.

When my grandfather passed away, I thought about refininshing his rifle. Then I realized that I'd be pulling all of the character out of it that he put into it. I left it as is, and I enjoy it more that way. Just something to consider before you refinish the knife. Those marks are character marks, and it looks great. I could see polishing the blade, but I couldn't bring myself to take it a part. Your choice though, but I thought I'd mention it.

I have a Winchester 67A that my dad and aunt probably got second hand and learned to shoot with. It's tough not to break out a screwdriver and sandpaper, but those marks and scratches got there somehow. Just clean it and admire it.

Beautiful old Case. Admire it for the looks. Cherish it for the memories.
