.40 recoil though...

My wife is limp wristing it if your going by that video. She's still learning, but she loves the 40 and doesn't mind the recoil.

My brother has a 9mm shield and loves it. I have shot it and really liked it, too. I would probably get one if I didn't already have a Glock43 and PF9. The PF9 is brutal though, lol (why I got the G43).

You'll love the Shield I'm sure.

The 40 Shield recoil is mild.
I don't know why, but the 40 Shield recoil doesn't feel as drastic between the recoil of a Glock 26 and 27.

Love mine.  Small, reliable, accurate, good trigger, very concealable, perfect for pocket carry.

If you don't mind me asking David, what holster do you use for pocket carry?

I have had my magazine pop twice in a soft Mika pocket holster... I know, that's what you'd call a "clue"...I returned my J Frame back to it's pocket carry role until a more suitable holster is chosen...

hence the question.

fwiw I carry in Carhartt carpenter jeans, nice roomy pockets.

I shot a 9mm Shield yesterday and am placing an order w/ Bud's today.  Again, thanks for all the good advice!  On a side note, the friend who let me borrow his Shield also had a Kel-Tec PF9 in his pocket.  Boy, the difference between those two is night and day.  I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that PF9!!  But I guess if push came to shove I'd prefer it over a rock!

Heh, the kel tech is plenty accurate.  But if you can't lift a bulldozer with your index finger, the amount of force you have to use to shoot it will invariably twist your hands all over making hitting the target unpossible.   Kel tec has a lot of creativity and fills a niche (inexpensive self defense pistols) but I can barely pull the trigger.  If you got it to go bang using only one finger, you are farther along than I am.

I have the M&P shield 9mm from the performance center. It has the ported barrel, factory enhanced trigger and the fiber optic sights. I have 13 hand guns and its one of the best ones I own. Its a keeper.

I use a Kydex pocket holster from Alan over at www.aholster.com.  TNPopo turned me on to their stuff years ago and I keep buying them.   :)

I was considering a shield, I carry an XDs (.45) for edc... I decided against the shield to instead get a full size M&P, I want greater round count and no longer concerned about printing.

That said, I love my XDs... it has never given me a problem and I shoot well with it. It's good quality, and I liked the grip safety because of having kids around.

I've changed opinion over time on some things like that, and round count is important to me now.

Thanks for the recommendation and the link David (and TNPopo). Got one ordered. Great price and shipping.

I went w/ the 9-compact M&P vs. the shield to be able to carry more ammo. I still find it concealable (OWB holster w/ shirt/jacket over), and feel better having that 18-rd. full-size back-up mag. on me in addition to the 12 in the gun. :D

Get one.... and here is the BEST IWB holster for it... search Amazon for ...

"Flashbang Holsters 9580-SHIELD-10 The Eliot Ness Gun Holster"

Questions about your holster choice. Because it's thermoplastic, is it less comfortable than, say leather. I doesn't say so in the ad on Amazon. Can it be worn in the left handed position? I prefer that in the IWB/SOB position.
