Yesterday my boss tells me that he inherited this firearm that used to be his great-grandfather's.

After a quick google search we found it is likely a "Forehand & Wadsworth", a brand I have never heard of.

I found this:

Just wondering what you guys know and can tell from the photos. He'd like an approximate age of the pistol. We don't think it is worth much, maybe $100-$200 bucks. But it is really neat. He is thinking of making a shadowbox with it and the leather holster he received with it as well. I told him not to try and clean it up, keep the patina, etc.

1870s-1880s.

I think you're off by a decimal place on the value. http://www.gunauction.com/buy/9364580

That auction result is from 2009...not necessarily representative of value in 2016. Having said that, I'd say the value may still be closer to $100 than $200, but it doesn't matter if he's not selling it.

Neat old piece of nostalgia from the old days, and with a bit of family heritage. I think the idea of a shadow box style mounting for it would be great!

And a really interesting artice on it as well. Thanks for posting all this guys.
