Great tool kit for building an AR

I recently stumbled upon this tool kit when searching for roll pin punches. After running into issues with ordering it from the very few places I could find it, I contacted Wheeler. Come to find out, this is a brand new item. They just shipped the first batch to retailers and distributors about a week or so ago. The only place I could find them ready to be shipped was Cheaper Than Dirt. As much as it pained me to deal with them, I placed the order.

The kit comes with the following:

- Two-sided hammer
- Trigger guard install tool
- 1/16, 5/64, 3/32 roll pin and roll pin starter punches
- Bolt catch install tool kit (roll pin and roll pin starter punches)

The roll pin and roll pin starter punches used to install the bolt catch roll pin have been flattened on one side and coated in some sort of rubber/plastic/vinyl material to help prevent scratching the receiver.

MSRP is $64.99, but the average price seems to be about $45. CTD has it listed for $41.42. I'm pretty sure it was cheaper when I placed the order over the phone.

Here's the kit listed on the manufacturer's website: AR-15 Roll Pin Install Tool Kit

I have all that except the trigger guard tool, let me know how it works.  You always run the risk of breaking off one of the "ears" doing it incorrectly, this should help with that.

I also just ordered a tool which I discovered I "needed"; I am building a .277 Wolverine AR and the barrel did not have any dimples yet.  I have done this manually before, most times with success but a couple of times I boogered up the finish a bit when the drill bit walked on me.  I came across this and figured what the heck: http://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=579  All the rest I seen where either specific to a brand, expensive or just didn't look as they would be as versatile enough for different spaced set screws.

While it's good to know how to assemble an AR without the "proper tools", they definitely make the job so much easier. Those roll pin punches are great, but the modified punches for the bolt catch are AMAZING! Not a single piece of tape was needed during these builds. I really wish I would have had these sooner.

As far as the trigger guard tool goes, it works great! These builds had the integrated trigger guards, so the tool wasn't necessary. However, I did use it on an existing build to see how it performed. Removal and installation of trigger guard roll pins are a breeze with this tool.
